Clown Dog with Chilli
Sue Ellen might have hated making clown dogs version, but with a little finesse a hot dog with chilli sounds A-OK to us!
Method
Chilli
In an iron skillet, heat some oil
Sauté most of the onions and garlic until softened, then add the minced beef
Once the beef has been browned, add the chopped tomatoes and chilli powder, and season
Hot dogs
Clean the skillet ready to fry the hot dogs
Fry a little oil in the pan
Drain the frankfurters and add to the pan, turning frequently for around 5 minutes
Buns
Preheat the grill to medium hot
Cut down the middle of each bun (if not pre-cut) and add the hot dog
Spoon on the chilli
Add a sprinkling of cheese and the remaining onions
Place the dogs under the grill for 2-3 mins until the cheese is melted and the buns have slightly browned
Serve with American mustard, ketchup, or whatever your favourite sauces are.
